Robin was born in South Africa and lived there, near Johannesburg, until age seven and then moved to Leeds, Yorkshire for a few years before moving to Ontario. He went to McGill for a B.SC, and then Medical School and interned at the Montreal General Hospital. After a few years as a general practitioner in Sherbrooke, Quebec in the Eastern Townships, and after some traveling he, an his wife Barbara moved to California to do specialty training in Internal Medicine and then Cardiology at Harbor-UCLA in Los Angeles.
He spent most of his Cardiology career as an Interventional Cardiologist, recently cutting back to concentrate on office consultative cardiology.
